Continental Steel (“Consteel”) has commissioned a new Blast and Prime line, complete with an electric heated drying tunnel (“Facility”) for the surface treatment of steel products. Manufactured and installed by Kaltenbach Group (“Kaltenbach”), a European technology leader in steel processing equipment, the Facility can process up to 20,000 mt of steel products like plates, beams, hollow sections, angles and channels (“Product”) annually.

With an integrated conveyer system from start to end, Product passes through the Facility’s auto blasting chamber, carrying on to the painting booth equipped with sensor-driven automatic spray guns and finally through the heated drying tunnel for a touch dry finish. Cross transport lifts at the infeed and outfeed of the conveyer system allow for smooth loading and unloading of Product, maximising productivity of the Facility.

Kaltenbach’s Blue Line, an environmentally friendly technology that substantially reduces energy usage through a smart operating system and energy saving modules, was also incorporated in the set up. Together with Consteel’s installed solar capacity, the Facility is not only energy efficient but also powered by renewable energy.

With this latest extension of services for surface treatment of steel products, Consteel looks forward to engaging customers with more advanced steel solutions.
